2,000 YouTube Subscribers Q&A Video

To celebrate reaching 2,000 subscribers on YouTube, we've released a special not-to-be-missed update and Q&A video!

This blog post accompanies the Q&A video, so if you haven't already done so, watch it and then read this blog post.

Introduction

For us, a big part of the journey to visit all 419 National Park Units in the US is to share this journey with others. We set ourselves two goals:

  1. Inspire others to get out and visit the National Parks;
  2. Educate people on how to make the most of their visits, and to do so responsibly with the least impact on these beautiful places.

These were lofty goals for a couple who'd never edited a video before!

Which is why we're so thrilled to have 2,000 people who've joined us for this journey!

We love reading the comments on the videos, and the emails we receive from people who enjoy watching them too. We've also attracted a following from people that we didn't expect, but are super pleased to have - people who may not be able to visit the National Parks themselves, but are either living vicariously through us or our videos are inspiring them to go out on their own adventures.

Diana is our Producer, Director, Cinematographer, Audio Technician, Editor, Closed Caption Reporter and Broadcast Marketer all rolled into one. She does everything on the videos, and I'm so proud of the awesome work she's doing.

Each video is taking her ~15 hours to produce - and she's been consistently putting out a video every single week. So if you haven't already done so, go check out the Adventurous Way YouTube channel and subscribe if you like what you see - we'd love to have you along for the journey too.

Update

If you've been watching our videos, you may be mistaken for thinking we've been suffering in the summer heat in Arizona, but fortunately that's not the case. We're a long way behind on our videos - we're up to National Park Unit #14 on the videos, but we've done 36 now! Needless to say, we're working hard on churning through the backlog of videos (and blog posts) so they're a little more real-time in future.

Our latest video series, from Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument, was shot back in April this year, and was the last National Park Unit in Season 1 for us. From there, we spent Season 2 driving up Route 66 from California to Albuquerque, New Mexico, and then Season 3 is focused on the National Parks we visited while spending most of the summer around Colorado. There are lots of great videos coming up!

In a couple weeks time, we're going to be heading to the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta. It'll be our third time attending, and we're more than just a little bit excited! We do share more real-time updates in our weekly newsletter update, so make sure to subscribe for the very latest information.

Q&A

When we hit 1,000 subscribers on YouTube, we filmed a special Q&A video to answer some of the questions from our viewers. It was so well received that we thought we'd do another one to celebrate reaching 2,000 subscribers!

I won't regurgitate all of our answers here, so if you'd like to find out how we met, how we decided to go full-time, some of our must-have things in the RV, and how we plan our travels, then make sure to watch the Q&A video!

Full Time Freedom Week

During the video, one of the questions we answer is about our decision to go "full-time" in our RV.

We're delighted to share that we've been enlisted as speakers in this year's Full Time Freedom Week. If you haven't already done so, you should definitely check it out!

Whether you're already a full-time RVers, thinking about RVing, or even just dreaming about it, there's something for you. It's an online course of webinars and best of all, it's completely FREE!

What's next on YouTube?

Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument was the end of Season 1, so next week we'll be doing a special wrap-up video, looking back at some of the places we visited.

After that, we'll be taking a brief detour before Season 2.

We are often asked about our RV - to see more details about it, how we like it, and so on. So, we're going to be doing a short series of videos all about it! Recently we visited the Outdoors RV factory when they invited us there to film an exclusive video of their factory tour! While in the area, we also visited Thompson RV to learn more about the range of Outdoors RVs available. And lastly, we had another exclusive - a factory tour of the brand new Battle Born Batteries factory from their CEO, Denis Phares.

These videos will all be coming out once we've wrapped up Season 1, so make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you don't miss out! After that, it'll be back to business as usual as we share more of our National Park adventures.

Especially to those who watch our videos every week, we just want to extend a huge THANK YOU! Your positive comments and messages are a huge inspiration to us, and really help motivate us to keep delivering more and better videos. Thank you!

YouTube: Getting first 100 subscribers - Lessons Learned

Saturday 29th December, 2018

Our YouTube channel AdventurousWay has reached 100 subscribers and I thought I would reflect back on what I have learned so far. Neither of us had any experience with YouTube - unless you count tons of hours watching YouTube over the last few years. Since we cut the cord living in sticks-and-bricks, YouTube had become the major source of evening TV watch time. [...]
