Exploring Yucca House & Full Time Freedom Week Announcement
Even though our focus has been on catching up on video editing and blog posts, we still made some time to visit a National Park Unit this week....

One of the reasons we raced back from Nevada to Colorado was to visit Yucca House National Monument. This little known National Park Unit is certainly one of the strangest.
Although you are welcome to visit on your own, we chose to do so on a Ranger-led tour. There aren't many of these - only 4 per year! If you think that's not a lot, then consider that until 2019 they were only twice per year!
We managed to secure a place on a tour last week, and went along to find out what it was all about. Although this is arguably one of the richest archaeological sites in south western Colorado, it's almost entirely un-excavated! Without a Ranger to interpret it for us, it would have probably just seemed like a slightly rocky field - but with his help, we learned so much!
If you've seen any of our electrical upgrade blog posts, you'll know that our DC to DC charger is one of our favorite devices - it gives us a massive boost in charging capability whenever we're towing.
A friend of ours, a fellow Xscaper, wanted to do a similar install on her truck camper. Not confident in doing the installation herself, she took it to a local auto shop in Oregon.
To say they botched the installation is an understatement! Amongst the many irregularities was the use of completely undersized cable - just 8ga wire for a 60-Amp charger, protected by an 80-Amp fuse!
Fortunately, she knew enough to know that something wasn't right. Myself and another Xscaper were able to help her see what was done wrong (and what would be needed to put it right). She has so far received a partial refund on the labor, and her friend is going to redo the installation for her.
This highlights one of the reasons I share the blog posts about our electrical upgrades. Even if you don't intend to do the installation yourself, knowing what needs to be done can help you ensure you the job gets done right! In this case, the installation is potentially dangerous, and fortunately she knew enough to spot that and find someone to help put it right.
Today we published a special YouTube video to celebrate reaching 2,000 subscribers on YouTube! We're thrilled to have so many people following our journey, so if you haven't already done so, be sure to check it out our YouTube channel, or watch below!
Diana has also been working hard on the next mini-series of videos that will be coming over the next few weeks. First we'll be doing a wrap-up video for Season 1 of our National Parks journey, but then we'll be taking a brief detour onto something a little different.
Starting in early October, we'll be sharing a series of videos on exclusive factory tour at Outdoors RV, our visit to Thompson RV in Pendleton, OR, a full tour of our own RV, and lastly our exclusive tour of the brand new Battle Born Batteries factory with CEO, Denis Phares.
We're delighted to share that we've been invited to speak during Full Time Freedom Week 2019 in a collaboration with Phil & Stacy from You, Me & the RV. If you haven't heard of this event before, be sure to check it out!
Full Time Freedom Week is a series of online webinars all about full-time RV living, and best of all, it's completely FREE!
So whether you're already a full-time RVer, preparing to go full-time, or even just dreaming of RV life, then be sure to register now for your FREE ticket to the event.
